TECHNOLOGY PREPARATION: 

In preparation, you should make sure you test your access using the following equipment:

  • A Laptop or desktop computer.
  • Microphone – this may be built into your laptop or computer, or you may use an external device such as a USB microphone or headset. (A headset is highly recommended.) 
  • Webcam – a camera may already be built into your laptop, but you can also use an external USB camera for video conferencing. 
  • Internet – If you plan to join a synchronous session, it is best to be connected to the internet instead of using WiFi. 

Be prepared! It’s best to know these options will work for you before you actually need them. Test access to your equipment and resources before the need arises. 

COMMUNICATIONS:

Remember to check your BU EMAIL regularly. Your instructors are likely to send announcements through email as well as through the announcements in Open-LMS Moodle. When communicating with your instructors, it is good practice to label the subject line with the course number, title, your last name, and a specific subject.

MEETING VIRTUALLY:

MS TEAMS combines modern online meeting technology with persistent chat, file storage, and collaboration. To get started you can log in to Microsoft Teams from your web browser.

MICROSOFT OFFICE 365:

You can securely save files on your Brescia University One-Drive found in Office 365.  Saving your files here allows you to share information with your instructor and other students, and you can access them from anywhere. Your BU O365 One-Drive offers unlimited storage space with your BU account. You can download the Microsoft Offices tools from O365 to use on your own computer.  Microsoft Office includes PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel, and Publisher. These tools can be used on the web as well as on your desktop.

LIBRARY RESOURCES:

Not only can you search the LIBRARY CATALOG to find articles, books, videos, and more at Brescia and worldwide, but the FATHER LEONARD ALVEY LIBRARY LIBGUIDE offers many resources to help you succeed as a student at Brescia University.
