Online Library Resources Help Guide: Using the Online Catalog

Our online catalog also allows you to access your library account when signed in. The My Account feature (located in the online catalog) allows you to check the status of your checked out items, any fees associated with your account, and gives you the ability to save your searches. To sign in to the My Account feature, you must use your 6-digit Brescia ID number as your username. The password is one that you create. Contact the library if you need help accessing this feature.

The catalog itself has many built-in filters. These are all found on the left side of a result page in the catalog or on the advanced search page. 

Suggested filters to use

• Select Fr. Leonard Alvey Library instead of Libraries Worldwide
• Select the format that best fits your need (article, print book for an item in the library, ebook, etc.)
• If searching for an article select content type as full text and peer-reviewed
• Set your publication date range if your assignment requires it

You may also choose to select certain databases to search but keep in mind that not all of our databases are available through the catalog. If you are having trouble finding an appropriate journal article in the catalog, please try the A-Z Database List.
